Lydia at AJ

So, in the afteroon, she was sitting in the office and heard a blood-curdling anger-scream coming from the bathroom. Apparently, someone had to change Lydia and Brennan, and chose to change Lydia first. Bad decision.

Lydia was howling with rage because she wanted to go back outside.

Michelle actually left the office because she thought a child was hurt.

Nope. Just our girl. Being our girl.

You’ve also taken to some of your brother’s mannerisms and sayings.

Blech, yuck.

That’s disgusting.

———————-

You also sit on the potty and toot and occasionally let out a little tinkle. You love the reinforcement that you receive.

——————

No bite

Apparently, you bit a friend at AJ. We are supposed to tell you how that’s not nice. Stop it.

Our little sassy girl

You have quite the strong personality.

You are quite the little bookworm and Moana fan. You stand in front of the tv and say “mana” or will drag a book to daddy or mommy for reading.

You have also gotten into a habit of screaming like a banshee and crying hysterically at the end of the day if mommy and daddy set you down (while cooking dinner, changing clothes, going potty, etc.).

We are working with you still on no hitting and no biting, particularly, with your brother and mommy. The doctor says to ignore you (well say “no”) and give Everett all the attention in these moments (to avoid reinforcement).

You also hate laying on your back and having your diaper changed. Sometimes, you’ll take a swing at whatever parent is changing you, other times you yell out “no!”, and still other times you throw diapers or grab at your soiled diaper (the latter drives mommy crazy) in an effort to be freed. You are something else, sweet pea.

You have an obsession with mommy’s phone among other things. You will grab them and say “mine!” You even know how to take selfies on the cell (see below).

Favorite books/songs – monkeys jumping on the bed, the wheels on the bus, and the little baby bum YouTube channel

Your teachers, Ellyn and Megan, posted the following note below and we have a feeling you are the ring leader.

18 months

Lydia, you are becoming quite verbose.

You started giving two word sentences toward the end of your reign at 17 months.

More books.

No stop it!

More please.

You also like singing the beginning of abc’s, the end of the “no more” monkeys jumping on the bed, e-I-e-I-o.

Songs and books are your absolute fave. You act nonplussed when mom takes you to stroller strides. You seriously look like the most serious baby ever as you sit there eating while mom is doing burpees and push ups in front of you.

17 months

You are very communicative. You loved the beach and being in the water. You hated being confined to a life raft.

More, book, no, kit or cat, woo woo for dog, dada or da, mama, moo, shushing, blowing on things that are hot, shaking your finger at Everett.

You make strangers work for a smile and seem to have a RBF.

Otherwise, around your usual crew you are silly, smiley, and a bit of a stinker (pulling hair, biting, play wrestling)

You and your brother occasionally get jealous of one another when one of you is spending too much time with mom or dad.

Taking your first steps.

Here at 13 months old (and a couple of weeks), you’ve started to take several steps  independently. You seem to enjoy it as you wear a big grin while moving.

Words you say with regularity include; mom, dad, mama, daddy.  You love jabbering and yammering though.

You love Everett and Jinx (even though we learned through allergy testing, you are allergic to her and had positive reactions to dogs, milk, eggs, ragweed, wheat, soy).

You have a bad habit of biting when you’re tired or mad. You bit mommy last Tuesday at the pediatrician and mom’s bruise is now in the dark red, purple and yellow stage. Mommy has been asked multiple times, “what happened?!”  She has to tell people that she was bitten by her daughter.

13 months

My sweet Lou. The last few months we’ve continued to watch your growing personality and here are some things about you:

You looooove Jinx. Jinx loves you. Unfortunately, you’ve started to break out in hives every time you bury your face in her fur so we try and keep trying to keep you two separated.

You can stand unassisted. You can go from the sitting position to standing.  You’ve taken 1-2 steps solo, but no more. You are happy to cruise and crawl. We think, and have been saying, you’re so close to walking independently. Any day now.

You love babbling and making buzz/raspberries noises with your lips

You transitioned into your own room/crib in the middle of May. You seem to sleep better in your room.

You got round 2 of hand, foot & mouth during the last week of the school year.

You have four bottom teeth, two top teeth and two more top teeth coming in

You love real food, particularly edamame, fruits, veggies, soy hot dogs, etc.

you still wake at least 1x each night to nurse. Someday, we are looking forward to a full night’s sleep (maybe when you’re a teenager).

You love both mom and dad. You love Everett and smile at him when he is in the room. You go to the adults you recognize and have a little separation anxiety when you’re in new situations around new care providers (e.g. JCC, gramma Jenny).

You are still not the best traveler when it comes to long distance drives. You don’t take a pacifier and just hate being restrained. So much so, when we take our myrtle beach vacay, you and mommy are flying while daddy, Everett, Katie and Sarah make the long trek in the van (hopefully it will have arrived by then) from Louisville.

We celebrated your first birthday with some of our friends, Everett’s friends and siblings, and a couple of babies from the moms group (Emerson & Juno). You did not really like the cake on your birthday but seemed to enjoy it more when we did a cake smash photo shoot a few weeks later.

You seem to enjoy swim lessons at hoti. You go underwater. You don’t seem to get that you’re supposed to be kicking your feet and moving your arms, but you’re not crying.
