Taking your first steps.

Here at 13 months old (and a couple of weeks), you’ve started to take several steps  independently. You seem to enjoy it as you wear a big grin while moving.

Words you say with regularity include; mom, dad, mama, daddy.  You love jabbering and yammering though.

You love Everett and Jinx (even though we learned through allergy testing, you are allergic to her and had positive reactions to dogs, milk, eggs, ragweed, wheat, soy).

You have a bad habit of biting when you’re tired or mad. You bit mommy last Tuesday at the pediatrician and mom’s bruise is now in the dark red, purple and yellow stage. Mommy has been asked multiple times, “what happened?!”  She has to tell people that she was bitten by her daughter.

13 months

My sweet Lou. The last few months we’ve continued to watch your growing personality and here are some things about you:

You looooove Jinx. Jinx loves you. Unfortunately, you’ve started to break out in hives every time you bury your face in her fur so we try and keep trying to keep you two separated.

You can stand unassisted. You can go from the sitting position to standing.  You’ve taken 1-2 steps solo, but no more. You are happy to cruise and crawl. We think, and have been saying, you’re so close to walking independently. Any day now.

You love babbling and making buzz/raspberries noises with your lips

You transitioned into your own room/crib in the middle of May. You seem to sleep better in your room.

You got round 2 of hand, foot & mouth during the last week of the school year.

You have four bottom teeth, two top teeth and two more top teeth coming in

You love real food, particularly edamame, fruits, veggies, soy hot dogs, etc.

you still wake at least 1x each night to nurse. Someday, we are looking forward to a full night’s sleep (maybe when you’re a teenager).

You love both mom and dad. You love Everett and smile at him when he is in the room. You go to the adults you recognize and have a little separation anxiety when you’re in new situations around new care providers (e.g. JCC, gramma Jenny).

You are still not the best traveler when it comes to long distance drives. You don’t take a pacifier and just hate being restrained. So much so, when we take our myrtle beach vacay, you and mommy are flying while daddy, Everett, Katie and Sarah make the long trek in the van (hopefully it will have arrived by then) from Louisville.

We celebrated your first birthday with some of our friends, Everett’s friends and siblings, and a couple of babies from the moms group (Emerson & Juno). You did not really like the cake on your birthday but seemed to enjoy it more when we did a cake smash photo shoot a few weeks later.

You seem to enjoy swim lessons at hoti. You go underwater. You don’t seem to get that you’re supposed to be kicking your feet and moving your arms, but you’re not crying.
